What it is

• —A typical industrial or semi-industrial sand filter consists of the following components: Filter column (tank): A sealed vessel capable of withstanding high pressure (typically between 2 and 4–6 bar). It is manufactured from corrosion-resistant materials: fibreglass, high-density polyethylene (HDPE) or stainless steel. Multi-port valve: A 4- or 6-position valve that controls the direction of water flow inside the filter. It allows switching between modes: filtration, backwash, sand compaction, discharge into the sewer, etc. Drainage system (collector / radial separator): A system of slotted separators (diffusers) at the bottom of the tank. These allow the treated water to pass through to the outlet pipe, whilst trapping sand particles and preventing them from being washed back into the pool.
